Wish You Were Here

If you have done any sort of traveling or moving, chances are you have signed a post card or letter with the words, "Wish you were here."
Having lived abroad for the most part of my adult life and travelled to nearly as many countries as my age, you'd think by now I am used to 'wishing people were here.'  The truth is, missing family and friends is something that is hard to get used to.  What happens is you just learn to go about your daily routine without a mental inventory of who is around you or who is not.  But every now and then, you get a reminder of who is not there, and then you start to miss them.
I received a letter from Analee recently.  Bless her heart she still writes them old school. I was delighted to receive her usual encouraging note, but then a photograph fell as I opened it, and there it was... our picture the day we spent together in California.  A snapshot of a lifetime ago and my new "home."  My eyes welled with tears.
I miss Analee.  I miss friends in Hong Kong.  I miss Hong Kong.  I miss my family in the Philippines.  I miss my Mom. I miss my nieces and nephews. I miss Bea, Rainer, Summer, Lizzie, TJ, Alfie, Curt, Owel, Pia, Jose, Lael (whom I have not seen).  I miss Nina and Jules.  I miss Sunny.  I miss Missy. I miss walking around SoHo looking for a place to eat or to take out food.  I miss Pure Fitness. I miss the Italian Deli on Caine Road. I miss jogging on Bowen Road.
The list goes on... and on.
Wish you were ALL here.
Sort of unrelated P.S.:  I miss wine, good ol' vino of any kind.

I miss you too, Ting! Yesterday, Jane organised a walk around the Tai Tam Reservoir. As I was going up.. up.. up the hill, I thought of my very first hike with you.. in Lantau... 8 years ago! Thanks in part to you, I am more fit now than when I first moved to HK. And, several times during the hike, I did think and wish that you were there with us! Some pictures in my blog! =)

Dear Ting,
We miss you too! How I wish you could just pop up like it was when you were in HK...
Remember, we're always "here" for you and keeping you close in our hearts and thoughts...distance doesn't keep us all apart.
See you soon!

Always,
Ate

PS: Keep posting. I love reading your blog a lot.
