It is a lazy Sunday. I packed a weekend bag and a couple of textbooks and headed out to my brother's place in Rancho Cucamonga for his birthday weekend. My brother is a sports fan, so as a fitting gift from the 'girls' - wife and sisters - he gets undisturbed tv time watching sports. Fine with me.
First order of the day, as in 2:00am, is the Australian Open championship match between Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer. My boy Rafa won this one, not with less effort than last year's Wimbeldon but certainly with more ease. It is a new era in tennis and this young Spaniard has just began.
The day was interrupted by my sister's favorite sport- shopping. As a pre-Superbowl treat we headed out to Off Fifth Saks Avenue for a little retail therapy with the US recession in mind.

Back home in time for the Superbowl, I could not resist to nap. The game started slow and loose. The last five minutes, however, made up for the lack of sizzle. This one was decided by spy cameras and official review of the winning touchdown. I am sure tomorrow's news is littered with speculations whether or not Santonio Holmes followed Casey Casem's advise to keep both of his feet on the ground as he reached for that star... ehem, ball.
As a side note, I am not too sure what to make of a player who gets a foul for "unnecessary roughness" (believe me, it was very rough and truly unnecessary) who wears a tattoo that says "PEACE" across this biceps and the cross beneath it. Hmmm...
