Both have been rectified thanks to online shopping.
I got this new Canon Rebel XS as a birthday and Christmas and New Year gift to myself courtesy of amazon.com, which gives away a free 75-300mm lens along with it.
I am off to New York on a United Airlines flight bright and early (more like dark and early) tomorrow morning courtesy of expedia.com
I am sure this will lead to all kinds of retrospection... I will spare you for now ;-)

happy shooting and buy yourself a second hand 50mm 1.4. when ur in NY. great for low light photography and learning composition.
